1963

"I don't have a flag,
I don't have a country."
Those were the words of a 16 year old colored boy

Getting sprayed down with a water hose
Am I really from here?
I guess
I suppose
The color of my skin
Black
The color of the man
White
In 1963, what was in our minds?
What was right?
Right is equality
Not segregation
We should all love one another
This is one nation

Under God

We shall not badger the love
Between an interracial couple
They don't deserve it
We shall not make them
Relive the struggle
We overcame that
We finally won
Hallelujah
August 28, 1963
But today, now
What have we become?

"I don't have a flag,
I don't have a country."
These are the words of a 16 year old gay boy

We didn't overcome
We thought we learned something
But history's just repeating itself
We learned nothing

God said love everyone as you love yourself. What if they're gay? So what? They're still a person with feelings. Even if you don't support gay rights or still for some stupid reason think black people and white people should be segregated, that doesn't give you the right to bash them. Respect them as a person. Treat people they way they deserve by their actions; not by the color of their skin or their sexual preference.
